The house is old but otherwise fine. It’s located on a vacation park that apparently hosts events regularly, but the owners don’t inform you beforehand, so we had three sleepless nights due to a music event 150 m away.

The house is well equipped, very tidy, and nicely decorated. The location is central and close to shops. Nothing stood out negatively.

The first floor of this cabin is well equipped, with a kitchen area, living room, and good bathroom renovation. The rooms on the upper floor are very uncomfortable, with zero sound insulation, and there’s an awkward, unsafe staircase down. The worst part was the interaction with the manager and the fact that the Booking page omitted important information and hidden conditions that could cost you money. Before booking, I reviewed all the house rules, which stated: “A security deposit of EUR 100 must be paid via bank transfer. If no damage is found after departure, the deposit will be refunded in full via bank transfer.” I first paid the non‑refundable stay fee, then the owner asked me to transfer the deposit to his personal account, which I did. He also sent a list of “rules” that were not initially disclosed, including that I must remove bedding and take out trash to special sites a few kilometers away. When I left early, I had no time to clean as guests are not required to do so. We packed the trash in a bag and left it in the corridor, cleaned the kitchen, and washed the dishes. All towels and bedding remained in good condition. The owner came after our departure and told me he would not return the deposit because we didn’t follow his “rules.” I find this unacceptable! We did not damage any property, so we complied with the rules provided before booking. I had no chance to see other “rules” before paying, otherwise I would never have booked a place that requires guests to clean bedding and take out trash themselves.

The spot was spot on for us: great bike trails, beautiful Ruiten Aa area, Bourtange, and a lovely Foltz garden just 20 km away. The area felt noticeably quieter than the “West” and offered plenty of space and things to explore. Nothing was missing in this cozy house! We didn’t use the pool, so I have no opinion on that. Maybe the owners could think about getting a topper for a few of the beds…

Everything you could possibly need was there. The mattresses were quite firm, and it would be nice if one or two of the six beds had a slightly softer mattress.
