Belmont Hotel

The hotel sits in a quiet, safe neighborhood close to multiple bus stops and train/subway stations, and the beds are comfortable. The room we stayed in (room 4, twin room) had the smallest bathroom, which smelled strongly of mold. On the other hand, the bathroom in room 5 (two single + one double bed) was newly renovated, very clean, and spacious, so maybe we were just unlucky.

The location is great for public transport, with museums and galleries just a short direct bus ride away, and it stays pleasantly quiet at night. If you’re booking the cheap single room, be warned about the steep, narrow staircase to the attic—it's totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The bare walls lack hooks or rails, so there’s nowhere to hang clothes or towels, and a water dispenser would help guests avoid buying single-use plastic bottles and instead refill reusable ones. The hotel can’t be blamed for antisocial guests, but it was unpleasant to enter a shared bathroom that reeked of cheap tobacco and had ash on the floor, despite a no-smoking policy; a few strategic no-smoking signs might enforce the rule.

Good location close to Edgewater Road, the rooms are clean and I’d like to thank front‑desk staff Saad who was smiling and quick with check‑in and check‑out. The rooms and hallways are narrow, which is just the nature of the building.

Great spot, free water and fruit in the lobby, staff are friendly. The room and bathroom lack storage/shelf space – not a problem for a few days but worth knowing. The staircase is steep and narrow – you need to be fit.
