Ella Sunrise

The owner is very nice and helpful, easy to understand, and she organizes everything you need. Her husband drove us to Arugam Bay in a TukTuk. The location is very quiet, so you can sleep well at night. The breakfast was very generous and tasty. You can also see monkeys, squirrels, and more. The shower had hot water and a mosquito net was available. There is no AC, but that wasn’t a problem for me. The walk to the hotel is a bit longer, but the train tracks make it easy. A few more storage options in the room or a picture on the wall would make it feel more inviting. Unfortunately, my balcony didn’t have a view of the valley.

The rooms were clean and the host was exceptionally nice; we were welcomed with tea and a wonderfully extensive and lavish breakfast in the morning, and everything we needed was taken care of.

The bed was comfy and spotless. The owner speaks almost no English, so talking was tough, but she’s a nice person.

The hotel owner was genuinely kind, and meals could be enjoyed on the terrace right in front of the rooms, which was incredibly convenient. There was also a swing that kept the kids entertained, and the surrounding nature—filled with squirrels, monkeys, and many birds—made the stay very relaxing.
