“Good location and cheap, but would NOT stay again”

The spot is pretty good, right at the Stone Town entrance so you can easily reach attractions, and it’s only a 10‑12 minute walk to the beach—convenient for exploring. AC is available, towels were provided, and the bathroom had shampoo, body wash, and two toothbrushes even though I booked for four people. I think most of the 10‑point reviews are fake, so I felt deceived by this booking. After a severe flight delay I needed to arrange a very late arrival, but they didn’t reply until I called twice on WhatsApp; they finally answered and had a 24‑hour front desk but never responded to my messages. This made it hard to find the place on arrival, and they didn’t pick up the phone either. We were lucky that a staff member from a nearby hotel was awake and helped us. The hotel sits in a line of shops across from the church entrance, between a café, supermarket, and other shops, with a tiny sign above the door. The room was okay. I booked a family room but got a different one—nothing major, it was comparable. However, the linens were very thin and there was no option for thicker blankets, and the person who was directly in the line of the AC was freezing. The bathroom was wet, and there was no drain outside the shower area, so after we showered the first night there was a huge puddle of water that we had to wade through the rest of the stay. We ran out of toilet paper and had to get extra ourselves. The bathroom window didn’t close properly and there were gaps in the front door, so mosquitoes kept biting us all night. Not all power outlets worked, and there were none for the top bunks, which would be a huge problem for anyone staying in a dorm. The listing said payment would be charged to my credit card the night before check‑in, but it wasn’t. The staff knocked on our door and woke us up at 11 pm the last night to ask for payment instead of waiting until check‑out, and they only accepted cash. They didn’t even know how much we owed, so we had to tell them. The Wi‑Fi worked but was pretty slow.

The staff were friendly and ready to help if needed, though they didn't take the initiative. They never came to clean the room, the Wi‑Fi was painfully slow, and the on‑site restaurant wasn’t recommended or even mentioned in the menu. The room had no basic items like a glass or fridge, and there was no laundry suggestion.

The stay was a huge letdown: the staff barely spoke English and couldn’t locate our room. The AC leaked nonstop for the whole stay, dripping onto our luggage so we had to keep everything on the floor to avoid soaking. There was no computer for reservations; we had to show everything on our phone. Calls to the hotel went unanswered. The staff were polite but utterly incapable of fixing any issue, so I won’t return or recommend this place.

“Pratique mais bruyant”

The hotel sits at the entrance of the old town, surrounded by many restaurants, making city exploration easy. The room is spacious with a hot shower. However, the location brings a lot of noise—truck horns and late‑night diners—and the bed was hard. No special services like breakfast or water were offered, and the staff, while not unpleasant, were not very present or accommodating.
