The property owner cancelled the day before the booking, claiming he was closed for the season despite me having booked months in advance. Then, on the day of the booking, a message arrived saying one guest could stay but no additional guest, a restriction that has appeared in several reviews I’ve seen since the cancellation.

I booked this place and instantly received a message from the owner insisting I be single; I was confused, replied that my booking was already single, and then the owner abruptly cancelled my reservation in a bizarre manner. I don’t recommend trusting this owner.

The mattress was comfy and the room was a decent size with a good rail for hanging clothes, but the host was in Ireland and only sent brief text messages, leaving a key under the doormat and no Wi‑Fi info in the room. I paid for breakfast, but none was provided or even mentioned, and the room lacked a headboard, bedside tables, and a door lock, making it hard to keep valuables safe while we were out at a concert. Sleeping on the ground‑floor room with large windows open all night was very uncomfortable, and I couldn’t get the TV to work or find anyone to ask for help. The patio doors were dirty and only a woman knocked on the door to ask when we were leaving. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially since we chose this room based on reviews praising the host’s hospitality and breakfast.

The location was pleasant, with several bars, pubs, and restaurants within about a 15‑minute walk, bus stops just 3 minutes away, and the tube 20 minutes on foot. However, the host wasn’t very welcoming, the kettle was full of scale and kept flaking into the water, the cup was dirty, and bedroom furniture was limited—no bedside table, chest of drawers, or wardrobe. There was a big hole next to a plug socket with exposed wiring, and the door had no lock.

The only person I met was the resident staying there, who was polite. There was no breakfast, no keys for the front door, and the lack of a lock on my door made it hard to sleep on the first night. I only saw one tenant, and another arrived in the early hours whom I didn’t meet. The photos advertised were not the same as the actual place, and the TV didn’t work either.
