The stay at the hotel was fine; the reception staff were very friendly and cordial from arrival to departure. The room was good, the bed very comfortable, and the shared facilities and lounges were lovely. The location is great because it’s close to the city’s main shopping centers, making driving practical. I had some expectations that weren’t met. First, when I arrived the room had a strong, almost bad, smell of dampness. The bathroom didn’t have shower gel, so we had to use a small hand soap halfway through the shower. The breakfast was less varied than I expected; we’ve stayed in several hotels on our trip to Honduras and this breakfast was definitely the least varied. Also, the catering staff in the morning were not pleasant at all; the girls didn’t even look you in the face when they served you, which was very bad. Additionally, something unpleasant happened with the bellhop: after helping us with our luggage and giving him a tip, he made a disgusted face, presumably because we gave him less than he expected, which is very rude. I’m from San Pedro Sula and I know what Copantl represents for the city, and since it was my first time staying there, I expected a bit more, at least that people would treat you kindly, because what you pay for lodging at Copantl is not cheap.
