The owner and staff seem clueless about the building; it's simply bad. It doesn't feel like a holiday for people coming from England or Scotland.

The food was excellent, though a bit pricey, and the staff were very pleasant and friendly. The rooms felt tired, the carpets were dirty and needed replacing, and the bathrooms, while lovely, could have been cleaner. Patio doors wouldn't open because dirt had built up in the track, and the heating pump was very noisy in the early hours of the morning.

The welcome was charming, the bar cozy, and the room in a separate lodge was delightful. The breakfast was tasty, but the service was slow and impersonal.

Dinner was excellent and breakfast very good; the bed was very comfortable. The welcome at arrival was good and the service throughout was friendly. The conservatory was rather cold for dinner unless you were beside a radiator. The bedroom and en‑suite needed redecorating, a tap in the basin dripped, the towel rail didn’t heat up, there was no extractor fan in the bathroom, only one very low comfy chair in the bedroom, and there was no hairdryer.
