It’s close to attractions like the lake and good restaurants, and it’s near the main road yet far enough to stay quiet. The room sells a nice range of drinks and toiletries. However, the breakfast portions are small, the parking is a block away and you must get a key from reception each time you enter or leave; the main entrance key isn’t given and sometimes you have to wait. There’s no real wardrobe space and the bathroom is tiny.

They waited until the night for us because we arrived around 9:30 pm. In Paipa it was very cold, but the room had good blankets, though I would have liked some heating. The red curtains in the room and the low light are not ideal; I prefer rooms that are well lit.

The receptionist was friendly and took responsibility for arranging another hotel for me given what happened. When I arrived, my reservation had already been taken by others; the front desk said my reservation was cancelled, but I was never notified.
