Laugarfell Accommodation & Hot Springs sits on the paved highland road at Vatnajökull National Park’s edge, offering easy summer access for all vehicles. Guests relax in two natural hot springs framed by mountains, then retreat to simply furnished twin rooms with optional Snæfell views. On‑site dining serves breakfast, dinner, coffee and homemade cakes, while a fireplace‑lit lounge and shared facilities enhance an authentic Icelandic highland experience.

The room was small and the beds were narrow, but the whole house is shoe‑free, giving it a cozy, rustic vibe—almost like a snug ski lodge. The breakfast was surprisingly plentiful and really good for the secluded setting, and we’d also recommend the optional dinner: it was tasty and a nice way to wind down the day. Shower and toilet facilities were adequate, even though extra guests from outside used the hot springs. The hot springs themselves were a real highlight in the evenings—relaxing after a day outdoors was indescribably beautiful. The accommodation is also a great base for trips to the highlands. Unfortunately, on 20 June most roads were still closed, so several planned outings were impossible, but the hut staff were very helpful and gave good suggestions for alternative activities; we highly recommend the waterfall tour.

Super great, they even prepared a special vegetarian menu; the food was excellent, the location was very good, and everyone was very friendly.

The rooms were lovely and the hot spring was divine, the common area was cozy, the toilets upstairs were pleasant, and it was nice to be able to eat there; however, the showers couldn’t be closed.
