“Quando anche una spremuta diventa un lusso”
The experience at Mama Lova Hotel in Essaouira was extremely disappointing. After seeing the presentation of the property and considering the price paid, our expectations were quite different. Unfortunately, reality was far from what we anticipated. The value for money is, in our view, absolutely unsatisfactory. The property may have a convenient location and a certain charm, but that cannot make up for a service we found lacking and hospitality that, in our case, was far from warm. The breakfast management was particularly absurd. In a hospitality setting you would expect a pleasant, plentiful breakfast and at least a minimum of availability for the guest. Here, instead, we felt everything was rigidly rationed. We asked several times for another glass of orange juice and were told that only one glass per person was allowed. We also requested another piece of cake, and again we were reminded that only one piece per person was permitted and we could not have more. Frankly, being on vacation and having to argue over a second glass of juice or an extra slice of cake was something we had never experienced. It’s not about wanting to eat or drink more; it’s the feeling of being treated as if every single item was calculated and capped. The breakfast approach we found really unrefined and completely out of line with what we expect from a hotel that positions itself as a certain level of tourist accommodation. Hospitality should make the guest feel welcomed, not monitored. Too bad, because Mama Lova has potential, but a nice location and a distinctive property are not enough if the experience is compromised by a service that leaves so much to be desired.
