“I would have expected this property to be maintained to a reasonable standard, but it is not.”
The location was good, but there were too few dishes, cutlery, and dining chairs for a party of 12; one chair had a broken leg and my brother fell to the floor. The lounge chairs only fit six, were upright and uncomfortable. The TV subscription had expired, so no TV—BBC was impossible without an antenna. Wi‑Fi worked only sporadically. Some rooms lacked curtains, others had blinds that couldn’t be wound, so they had to be propped up. One toilet seat was broken. Razors from another bathroom were left in use. The freezer motor ran nonstop without changing temperature; a small one from the next door was brought in, implying the main one also failed, leaving new occupants without a working freezer. The 4‑slice toaster only worked on two slots, making toast for 12 a long ordeal. The kitchen coffee machine had no pods, so it was unusable. The dishwasher worked and tablets were available, but its base was covered in other people’s food debris, so it wasn’t cleaned before our arrival; I can’t even imagine the filter. Bedside lights were scarce; the one in our room had no bulb, so I swapped it for one found on a landing. Several mattresses on different bedroom floors replaced proper beds. One bedroom was covered in dog hair, indicating no cleaning.
