The place has a lot of character and you can’t miss it – it’s right by the street and parking is a breeze. Dominic greeted us with a warm welcome, which set a good tone for the stay. All in all, nothing really stood out as a problem.

We arrived at 7:30 pm after confirming the time by email, but when we rang the doorbell nobody answered and a neighbor shouted from a window that the host was asleep. Inside, the hallway was cluttered, the room had spider webs and dried stains on the bed frame, the linens felt old, and the shared bathroom was noticeably dirty.

The apartment is tucked away in a quiet corner and feels really pleasant, perfect if you’re after a calm night’s sleep. Nothing else to complain about.

My time at B&B Tomsi was solid – the room was exactly what I needed for work and the facilities were spot‑on. Breakfast hit the mark, and Dominik was always around to answer any Basel‑related questions. Getting there from Basel’s centre is straightforward, and the place is close to Pratteln station, which made late‑night walks after covering the Eurovision Song Contest feel safe and easy.

The windows had virtually no curtains, so the morning sun blasted straight in, which was a bit harsh. Apart from that, the host was lovely and everything else was fine, though you should note the shared bathroom is located on a different floor.
