A budget homestay that met all my needs. The family are warm and welcoming, and I was greeted in my room by Kali the cat, who became the highlight of my stay. My room, at the top of the stairs, was large, bright and clean. The general amenities are basic, but the shower pressure is good and, importantly, the water was hot, which mattered as it was winter. There is an outdoor communal kitchen with a basic set of utensils, but I found it sufficient for cooking, and I'm sure the hosts would try to accommodate a request. The area has a more local feel. It's also convenient, with a straightforward 15‑minute walk to the historic centre. I would definitely stay again when visiting Paraty. Expect it to feel like staying with a relative rather than at a hotel.

The host’s hospitality was excellent; the owners were kind and helpful, and the simple facilities met all needs with comfortable beds, pillows, and blankets, a delightful shower, and a handy kitchen equipped with utensils, a fridge, microwave, sandwich makers, and basic thermos cups. Breakfast was tasty and lovingly prepared, featuring cold cuts, eggs, and fruit that varied by day. The lovely, cozy garden and living room with adorable kittens added to the charm, and the location was great—close to supermarkets, restaurants, bus stops, and the bus terminal, making it very convenient for guests. The only thing I’d change is adding a bedside table on both sides of the bed for storage.

I booked through Booking, and when I arrived at the scheduled check‑in time I was told there were no vacancies, so I had to cancel and look for another stay.
