“Very special”
It’s a very particular place, run by an elderly couple who share their home with guests. There are only two guest rooms, a shared toilet, and a shared bathroom. The experience of a real, typical Japanese home in the forest made the stay worthwhile. A 7‑Eleven is about an 8‑minute walk. The couple is friendly and helpful, but a bit over‑caring. As usual in Japan, we had to remove our street shoes at the entrance, wear slippers, and then remove the slippers before entering the guest room. The wheels of our suitcases were wiped clean to keep the floor tidy. Breakfast cost about 10 US $ per person, not free as Google says, but very good and healthy—exactly what I, as a Western guest, loved, and we even got rolls to prepare for later. From the house, a 15‑minute walk takes you to a great viewpoint to see Mount Fuji. It’s worth getting up very early to see the sunrise on Mount Fuji from the left side.
The shower was cold, and the house is mainly heated with kerosene heaters, though there is also an electric heater for the guest room, so we didn’t use the kerosene heater.
