“So good”
Everything about our visit was fantastic – the staff were so lovely and helpful, the location was beautiful, we had a car but if you don’t, you can take a public bus to the town centre, and the beach is beautiful.

Lycia Hotel in Kas emulates a traditional Turkish village with palms, bougainvilleas, and dry‑stone walls. Its sea‑water pool overlooks the Bay of Kas, while private balconies or patios provide panoramic views. Rooms feature free Wi‑Fi, flat‑screen TVs, wooden furnishings, and modern bathrooms. Covered decks on the rocky beach offer vistas of Kastellorizo and the Mediterranean.

The location was great and the private beach was a big advantage, the breakfast was good and the staff amazing, but the apartment itself needed better upkeep – the bathroom wasn’t well maintained, and the outdoor seating area had a lot of fallen leaves and ants, which made sitting outside less enjoyable.

The secluded beach was amazing and the suite was spacious, but some areas lacked privacy and safety – we loved the sea and the hotel's beach area, the water was crystal clear and very clean with almost no people around, making it feel wonderfully peaceful and private, the cabanas by the sea were super comfortable, the walk down to the beach was long but we actually found it quite enjoyable, the suite was huge and very spacious – it felt like a full two‑room apartment, and the breakfasts were excellent. However, the metal access ladder leading into the sea was uncomfortable and quite dangerous – it was slippery, easy to twist an ankle on, and located dangerously close to sharp rocks where you could easily get hurt, while neighboring properties had much safer, proper piers with sturdy handrails. The terrace was completely open and directly overlooked the dining area/kitchen, so everyone eating breakfast could look right onto our terrace, and anyone could easily step onto our balcony from the street, so there was no privacy or security. The room had a strong stale cigarette smell when we arrived, requiring a full day of airing out, and when we asked the owner to move us to another room due to the terrace issue, she offered the penthouse with an extra €50 per night, which wasn’t in our budget. The swimming pool was overheated – it was so warm it felt almost hot, which wasn’t refreshing in the summer heat.

This hotel clearly used very old photos, because what we found was a tired, unloved and dirty hotel – we left two nights early. Our first impressions weren’t good. When we arrived, we had to hunt to find a member of staff to check us in; when we eventually did, an unenthusiastic staff member simply asked for our passports and little else, with no real welcome or explanation of the hotel or its facilities, and we didn’t encounter the owner for two days. Had we not seen the photos online beforehand, we wouldn’t even have known about the seafront area, and when we tried to find it ourselves, we got lost. Unfortunately, the facilities themselves bore little resemblance to the impression given by the photos – the sun loungers by the sea were clearly very old and in grim condition, the pool didn’t look inviting at all – it appeared not to have been properly cleaned for some time and the overly warm water did little to reassure us, an outdoor sofa/seating area pictured online was, in reality, a barren terrace covered in leaves with no cushions or tables, and the pool sadly overlooks a carpark too, which is only out of view from certain angles. Our room was equally disappointing – the door was decaying and difficult to shut, the bed and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable, the air conditioning was extremely loud and emitted an unpleasant odor that we couldn’t use, the shower had extensive orange mold as well as the beginnings of black mold. Housekeeping was also poor – when our room was cleaned, the bed was merely made, the wet bath mat was left exactly where it was, and the rubbish wasn’t taken out. The pool/café toilet was particularly unpleasant, with feces left in the bowl and an empty toilet roll discarded on the floor. We deliberately don’t choose glitzy, bland hotels and much prefer staying somewhere with character and personality, which is exactly why we booked this place.

Everything was magnificent: a cozy large room with garden view and a small private terrace, a huge marble bathroom with wooden blinds that cast beautiful shadows, sturdy wooden furniture, and nothing distracts from admiring the sea – it’s visible from everywhere in the hotel. Special thanks to the manager Merih, who wrote to me right after booking, clarified the late check‑in time, and arranged everything so that we were even greeted and checked in at night. The Turkish breakfasts were excellent – many snacks, vegetables, fruit, coffee, freshly squeezed juice, eggs to choose from, all on a stunning veranda with a view.
