We had a wonderful time at Casa Plaia. The property sits in a very tranquil spot with amazing ocean views, yet remains close to everything by colectivo. Andrea was so nice and helpful with everything we needed. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our Mexico trip, and we would love to return someday!
The room and bathroom were very spacious and nice, and the views from the kitchen‑terrace were spectacular.
“Horrible lugar para quedarse”
The service and view are the redeeming points, but the access is extremely difficult: you have to climb a steep, dirt‑filled slope that no vehicle can reach. If you’re traveling with small children or elderly adults, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There’s no climate control, just a fan, and the rooms are like fishbowl‑style; the shower water turns the room into a sauna because there’s no ventilation. The bedroom isn’t separated from the shower and bed areas. It’s a hotel with no amenities, and all guests can see you in your room. Andrea, the staff member, is very friendly! Still, the place is a 0 out of 10 and I won’t return!
“This not a boutique nor a hotel. At best it qualifies for a roots shared Airbnb or a pretty hostel.”
The view was stunning, but getting to the place was a nightmare: a dusty, unbound earth slope with a 30% gradient that only fit people in great shape, no car could make it up. The house was unfinished and unsafe, lacking AC and hot water, one bathroom was clogged and had no water, lights barely worked, equipment was broken or sticky, and the shared kitchen was right in front of a room. There was almost no staff—just a guardian living there—so no one to help. Nothing nearby for meals, not even coffee, tea, sugar, oil or pepper in the kitchen. The pool had turned green. This isn’t a boutique hotel; it’s more like a roots‑shared Airbnb or a rough hostel. The idea might have been good, but the execution is far from it. I wouldn’t recommend it for families, people with health issues, or anyone looking for a fair price.
