“Quiet rustic refuge in the mountains with lovely hosts.”
Inês and Miguel were such lovely hosts, they had tons of information and were very responsive. When we couldn’t figure out how to work the oven or reported something wasn’t working, they came immediately and resolved it. We stayed 2 nights as 4 adults and a 20kg dog and there was ample space. It was stunning to wake up and to fall asleep to the quiet nature, fresh mountain air and view (in Autumn). For those who aren’t so mobile, the stairs are a bit steep. While I saw that there was some cleaning done prior to our arrival, my feet were always dusty walking around the house by the end of the day. The showers are more of a hand‑held operation, which may be inconvenient for some. Manteigas, as a town itself, isn’t very dog‑friendly – it was near impossible to find a restaurant in town to eat at with the dog. Also, a number of places are closed Mondays/Wednesdays and take holiday end of September. The only restaurant that was ok with us having a dog was Luso Pizza, with one table outside. The best dining experience was at Inês and Miguel’s recommended hotel Soadro (in their terrace area).
