“if you want to have a nice time at Barca, don't stay here”
The location was good, which is probably why they charge a premium for this place. The rooms are cleaned daily and the towels are changed, which I truly appreciate. However, the place is a case of false advertising. The rooms look nothing like the photos. The condition was extremely disappointing: plastic covers around outlets were falling off, paint on the walls was chipped, and there was barely any space. Most importantly, the room was freezing. A ceiling vent ran non‑stop and couldn’t be turned off or blocked. Even though it was mid‑September and outside temperatures were over 30°C, I returned from the beach, took a hot shower to warm up, and then had to use a winter blanket to try to get warm. Then the tourist tax issue: we were shown a total price, but upon arrival we were charged about 25% more. When I asked, they said the policy had changed in May and hadn’t been updated, even though the information was on their website. That might have been understandable if I hadn’t checked the site the night before and seen the old info. The entire check‑in and building access system is unnecessarily complicated because there is no staff on site. Everything is automated, but when something goes wrong, you must call for help. I’m comfortable with technology (being Gen‑Z and working in tech), but even I had to contact their help center at least five times because the system was so confusing. I even ended up helping two other guests who were struggling. Technology is great when implemented properly, but here it just added frustration. Not everything needs to be automated, especially with no staff on site to assist.
