I was given a single room that had no windows and no air‑conditioning, which was acceptable for a short stay. Getting to the city centre or the beach was a bit of a trek, but there’s a metro stop a few kilometres away that saved the day.

The bathroom was roomy and we had a fridge and a kitchen at our disposal, which was nice. Finding the place was a pain – the host had to come look for us and kept sending voice notes even though we don’t speak Portuguese. The mattresses were pretty saggy and the air‑conditioning didn’t work, though they did leave a fan for us, so they tried to make it workable.

The managers were genuinely attentive and took care of us, but the room had a couple of hiccups. The on‑site manager dealt with the problems himself and got everything sorted fast.
