Exceptional location with a beautifully maintained grounds full of flowers and animals. It was a bit chilly in October; they could have lit some of their many fireplaces to create an even cozier atmosphere.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, but the floor in the room made a lot of noise; it wasn’t annoying, just a bit uncomfortable.

The place looks great, and the way they care for the animals and run farm activities is worth it if you’re traveling with kids. The reception staff could have been better; we had been staying at many haciendas in Ecuador with a 3‑year‑old, and they always included her stay in the room rate, though not in breakfast, and we’d let them know. Yet when we arrived that evening they tried to charge us an extra $60 per night for her, even though we weren’t given a separate bed and she’d sleep on our bed. They eventually reduced the charge to $45 without changing rooms or providing an extra bed, citing hotel policy. Out of the six haciendas we visited this holiday, this was the only one that charged so much for a 3‑year‑old who didn’t even have her own bed.
