The Mann Homestay Waihi

The homestay was absolutely fabulous. Very friendly hosts welcomed us at the door and were excellent in communication and services, including a great coffee in the morning. The location is great, halfway between Auckland and Tauranga with wide views of well‑groomed farmland. The room was very comfortable with a good bathroom and a great shower. The spa pool in the rural setting was fabulous at sunset. The king‑size bed was super comfy and warm with high‑end linen. This is a great place to unwind.

After staying at The Mann Homestay for 6 nights last week, I can honestly say everything the reviews say about this property and the hosts (Chris, Vera and the mini Manns :) is spot on! Absolutely gorgeous setting (even the cows are gorgeous!), perfectly set up room, with everything thought out and provided, including a lush spa pool. As hosts, Chris and Vera are the perfect balance of friendly, accommodating and great for a chat—without anyone feeling like they are intruding on each other. The service, from the coffee each morning to hugs goodbye at the end of my stay, was perfect. The entire experience was fabulous and I will definitely stay at The Mann Homestay on my next visit. The property is a 5‑10 minute drive from Waihi, Waihi Beach and a quick drive to Katikati, Waikino (Kaimai Distillery gin!!), the Karangahake Gorge and so many other stunning locations. As an aside Chris and Vera produce wonderful handmade lavender products which are available to buy. Thanks to the Mann family for making my stay memorable and special. Nothing, it was perfect.

“Terrific home stay: friendly, quiet, comfortable, many thoughtful touches.”

It was so thoughtfully put together! High‑quality build and fit‑out (e.g. well insulated, block‑out blind, comfortable bed and quality bedding, great shower & everything you could possibly need in the bathroom). Even real milk was provided in‑room, with a mini‑bar. Filtered water tastes so much better than town water! Friendly, personable hosts gave good recommendations for dinner and even made us “coffee to go” in the morning. Clear instructions for how to work everything. The hosts were super‑responsive even though we booked at very short notice. Great location if you’re driving yourself and there’s parking space for large vehicles or a trailer. I had not identified how to turn the heat‑pump to just low heat with no fan, I happened to be sleeping directly in front of the fan, and I don’t like it blowing on me – but that’s on me. (We stayed in autumn and once the room was warm, it actually would have been better to just turn the heat pump off for sleeping; the room holds temperature super‑well.)

“felt like home away from home, absolute pleasure-Beautiful Friendly whanau-”

When we got there, the host welcomed us and escorted us to the facility, explaining everything so the check‑in felt effortless, almost like staying with friends. They were well‑versed in the local area and suggested great local experiences, so I highly recommend this place.
