The onsen, both inside and outside, was nice, yet the property itself was old and showing its age in the shower and toilet. The damp rain and steam around made the metal rust and the wood soak up moisture.

The scenery around the ryokan was stunning, especially the autumn leaves; there’s a street outside for walks, a classy 24‑hour free foot bath, and a family‑style bistro/bar for dinner. The onsen offers both indoor and outdoor sections, Japanese‑style, elegant and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The décor was slightly old‑fashioned, but it didn’t ruin the relaxed onsen experience.
