Sleep Inn & Suites Columbus near Fort Benning

The price was good and the location was convenient for Fort Benning, but the room itself was clean except that the top dresser drawer had hair, the microwave was nasty, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, no liner in the ice bucket, and no cups; the refrigerator smelled bad and hadn’t been wiped down. When my daughter went downstairs to get ice and cups, the desk clerk was on her personal phone and sent my daughter to the kitchen to get them.

The location was fine, but the staff were very rude. I was leaving for my son’s graduation at Fort Benning around 7:30 a.m., and we decided to put our bags in the truck while my husband stayed in the room until about 10:20 a.m. A cleaning lady entered the room, found my husband in the bathroom, and told him “you aren’t supposed to be here anymore.” I hadn’t yet checked out or called the front desk, so I was still there. I arrived at 10:25 a.m. and was called to the room to explain that I was still there, so I cursed and said I could stay because it wasn’t 11 a.m. yet. She insisted I had left, so I told her I had left but my husband stayed. She argued and said she was going up; I was just going to change into something comfortable because we had a long way back home. As we were exiting the room, she came in again, and I yelled at her that it was rude to just walk into the room and confront my husband. She said I had left, I said I had left but my husband stayed, and we paid an extra $50 for the hour we had stayed early. I was planning to stay until 11 a.m. if possible, but we left at 10:30. The staff were rude because one person left and they decided to pack everything up so we could leave at a decent time; we never informed them that we were leaving the facilities. There were also roaches.

The proximity to where I needed to be was good, but there was no breakfast and the pool was closed; a staff member was rude to someone in my group.

“For the price it was acceptable”

The staff were very friendly, and the bed felt great while the overall cleanliness was solid. However, the bathroom faucet in our room kept running the entire stay, the coffee pots downstairs broke the next day, the pool lounge area was all broken and torn, and the TV in the lounge simply didn’t work.

I like the location for my needs. The hotel service and the poor cleanliness. They limited our supply of towels
