Pearl Mara

The experience at Pearl Mara was truly special – I would highly recommend it! From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome and well taken care of. The whole team is warm, attentive, and helpful, and you can really see that every detail matters. The tents are beautiful, very clean, and the view is stunning. We especially loved the evening service: while we were dining, our tent was prepared for the night, the daytime blanket was removed, and even a hot water bottle was placed in the bed. ❤️ The food was a highlight for us; I haven’t eaten so well in a long time! Allergies and personal requests are handled with great care. For the safari, a lovingly prepared breakfast for the road is also provided. The service is truly exceptional: free laundry, a completely free minibar, daily fresh water, excellent Wi‑Fi, and incredibly fast responses to questions and requests. Even solo travelers can enjoy a relaxed vacation here, feeling safe at all times. There are night guards, and in the evening the tent is picked up and taken to the restaurant, which is especially pleasant because animals are out at night. We saw zebras, giraffes, and hyenas nearby. At first it felt a bit unusual, but that’s what makes the experience in the middle of the Masai Mara so special. The safari was also perfectly organized. The drivers are directly employed by Pearl Mara, know the area, and can accompany you for several days. They also know which animals you’ve already seen and what you’d like to discover next. Safari times can be arranged individually. During the drive, there are blankets and fresh drinks.

The view was absolutely gorgeous, the food was good and the menu offered enough choices (though it was disappointing to see disposable straws in the mocktails), and most staff were kind and caring. We booked a suite and liked the layout; the bathroom was especially nice. I booked this room for two specific reasons: 1) its proximity to the Mara Triangle and the chance to see wildebeest crossing the Mara River, and 2) for the jacuzzi to relax after two weeks of citizen science volunteering. The jacuzzi never got hot enough to use, and even if it had, we were wary because the water wasn’t clean (see photo). When we checked in, it was already on and the staff said they’d prepared it for us, but it stayed cold. We waited but it never warmed. The biggest disappointment was a strange experience with the activities we planned. We reserved a hot air balloon ride in the morning and a night game drive, intending to rest at the hotel between them, but both the driver and manager insisted we go on a full day game drive in between. We expressed concern about being out so long, especially after the 4 am start for the balloon, but the manager said we’d be back by 16:30 to rest before the night drive, and we didn’t want to be difficult as they’d have other guests in the car, so we agreed. By 17:30 we were still at least an hour away from the hotel, and the driver told us he’d hurry to get us back in time for the night drive (which he would also drive us on). We said we’d be too tired for that, reminded him that the manager said we’d have time to rest, but he was visibly annoyed, telling us in front of other guests that he’d been rushing all day to ensure we’d be back for the night drive. It was uncomfortable and exhausting. On top of that, we only spent about 10–20 minutes of that 9‑hour game drive at the Mara River.

The food was really excellent and the staff were attentive, but the Wi‑Fi quality was quite average. Also, there is no alcohol at this establishment, and that wasn’t clearly stated on the site.

Our stay was truly one of the most incredible travel experiences we’ve ever had; from the moment we arrived we felt welcomed, the hospitality was unmatched, and every staff member was exceptional. General Manager Emmanuel was especially kind, patient, and attentive, going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The attention to detail was unlike anything we have experienced before, from the daily laundry service and complimentary snacks to the evening turndown service, complete with a heating pad and fluffy blanket to keep us warm at night. The chef also personally tailored each meal to our preferences, making every dining experience feel special and memorable. Our room cleaner was wonderful, and the entire team made us feel truly cared for throughout our stay—it really felt like home, making our first safari experience truly memorable. We’ve stayed at five‑star hotels before, but I’ve NEVER received this level of care before. We came to the Masai Mara because it had long been a dream destination, and the experience exceeded everything we imagined. I loved absolutely everything about this property.
