The setting was gorgeous in the middle of green and mountains, but the hostel was dilapidated and nothing looked like the photos. The pool was under construction, the restaurant was a ruin replaced by a makeshift outdoor kitchen, no seating was available, and the music was painfully loud. The hostel was 40 minutes from the village, so there was nowhere else to eat. The interior was gone, and the outdoor pavilion was full of chairs and furniture, making the seating area unusable. The outside seating was worn and didn’t match the pictures. The reception was cold, and we were told the Wi‑Fi didn’t work with almost no signal, creating total isolation. The only activity offered was a quad or group mountain‑bike tour; no quiet walks or nature introductions were available. Our room looked spacious and nice at first, but the ceiling and bathroom were moldy and the windows didn’t seal properly. We decided not to stay and left that same night. We received a full refund, which we appreciate, but we lost a full day and had to pay for an extra night bus. I want to warn other travelers and urge the owners of Zoostel to renovate and show accurate photos.

Everything at Zostel Plus Wayanad was great—beautiful property, stunning views, lush greenery, clouds, bonfire, and many indoor games. The location is ideal for those heading to Chembra Peak, and the staff were very helpful and accommodated our room change request. The only drawback on 16 Aug was ongoing renovation, so the temporary open kitchen let dust into the food, and the food felt a bit pricey for the current condition. Aside from that, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place!

The spot was gorgeous and spot‑on, but the old‑world charm came with a lack of upkeep and a stank on the sheets – not a great experience.
