The Pension was in the perfect spot for the Hessisch Oldendorff Volkswagen Vintage Car show, and Jurgen replied to our questions quickly and was a very gracious host. We got there during one of the hottest heat waves in 40 years, so it was a bit warm at night without a rotating fan, but that was a challenge for everyone everywhere and had nothing to do with the hotel itself. Fischbeck is quite quiet on Sundays, so if you’re visiting on a Sunday, stock up on groceries before 5pm or head to the nearby Hessisch Oldendorff supermarket.

“Charmante und rustikale Pension auf dem Lande”

The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and the check‑in/out was anonymous and hassle‑free. Because the place is currently being modernised, not everything is new yet – but the Pension still offers everything you’d expect.

“Würde wir nicht noch Mal buchen.”

There was no breakfast, but we were able to get something from the baker and the butcher nearby. The height of the rooms was an issue; when showering you had to kneel to wash your hair.
