This old hotel is well maintained and in a super convenient spot near the funicular that takes you up to Taormina’s center; the staff treated us wonderfully. The Wi‑Fi on the third floor was weak, but the views were stunning.

Jonic Hotel Mazzarò, an Art Nouveau landmark overlooking Taormina’s Mazzarò Bay, sits just 30 m from the funicular and near Baia di Isola Bella beach. Rooms on multiple floors feature private balconies, terraces, and panoramic Ionian Sea views, with free Wi‑Fi and LCD TVs. The dining hall offers a daily buffet, while 24‑hour staff arrange transfers and excursions.

The location is great, but the facilities are absolutely decayed: the toilet is broken, there are paintings with shattered glass, and the furniture looks like it belongs in a junkyard. It's amazing they still keep the three-star rating.

The bay view from our terrace was amazing; sipping a bottle of wine at twilight or watching the sunrise was breathtaking. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a slightly retro style but was clean and included a bathroom and balcony. We were only a one‑minute walk from the bus stop, the cable car, and Mazzaro beach, and a 3‑4 minute walk from Isola Bella bay. A few minutes away were four or five excellent restaurants and small shops. The reception staff were nice and helpful, and the breakfast ladies were friendly. If you’re okay with an older style but still want a comfortable room at a reasonable price in Taormina, this could be your place—you won’t lose the view. The room had an old TV with no smart‑connection. Breakfast was fine for me: they served lovely local salami, eggs, cheese with a bread roll and croissants, but there was no toaster for the toast bread and no fruits or vegetables.

The room was clean, the staff polite, and the location a few minutes from the beach. However, there was no dryer for laundry, which is odd given the proximity to the beach. The hotel sits on a road and there are no sidewalks.

The room and bathroom were comfortable, and the small terrace at the back was quiet—no view, but peaceful. Rooms at the front with sea view would be noisy because of the road and railway. The breakfast was very limited, with no fresh fruit or fresh orange juice in a country full of orange trees.
