West Beach Resort’s biggest perk is its location on Orcas Island, which is breathtaking and made waking up a memorable experience. The cabin felt a bit more secluded and private, adding to the peaceful vibe, and the dock was a great spot to watch the ocean. We didn’t see whales during our stay, but we did spot six killer whales right in front of the resort and dock on a whale‑watching tour in Friday Harbor – what are the odds! The cabin itself was disappointing; it looked outdated and didn’t match the “deluxe” claim. The listing promised a partial sea view, but the trees blocked most of it, so that description was misleading. It also advertised a washing machine, a dishwasher, a separate bedroom, and champagne/wine for guests, none of which were there, which was frustrating, especially with a baby. The bed was small and squeaky, making it less comfortable than expected. The staff mix was uneven: some were friendly and welcoming, while others seemed indifferent and didn’t make us feel particularly welcome.
