“Cyber security risk & in need of a refurb”

The staff were friendly and worked hard, but the hotel clearly needs a refurbishment—everything looked either broken, in need of replacement, or poorly maintained. The bathroom in our room produced a loud fan‑like noise from the plumbing that woke us up repeatedly; turning the tap to the cold or minimum setting silenced it, though the cause remains unclear. We even found a clean pair of socks under the table and chairs, likely dropped from someone’s bag, yet the bedding was spotless. Additionally, the hotel seems to have suffered a cyber‑security breach: after checking in, I received spam calls and two WhatsApp messages from fake check‑in services asking for personal and card details, which could easily trick unsuspecting guests. This issue should be investigated urgently.

The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and there were no problems—overall a great hotel in a good location.

The location is great for catching flights from the East Midlands, and parking costs £5 a night less than the airport, but the décor could use an update.

“Great stop over before holiday 🙂”

The staff were excellent, especially Cat the manager who was fabulous and fun; she went above and beyond. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were tidy enough, though a little sprucing up would help, but it was fine for a single night before a holiday.

“excellent value for money; great food and friendly staff.”

Excellent value for money overall. Comfy bedroom; excellent food choice for dinner; tasty generous portions competitively priced. Excellent bacon was the highlight at breakfast, which otherwise was acceptable standard buffet fare. Staff were friendly and helpful (if having to multi task) and at dinner Catherine kept the show on the road with her effervescent enthusiasm, assisted by her colleague at reception/bar. Staff were not plentiful and as mentioned, the few that were there had to multi task to avoid delays
