“Beautiful environment. Had a great stay.”
The surroundings were beautiful and I enjoyed my stay.
“A wonderful experience!”
The spot sits right in the middle of nowhere, exactly what we wanted for a wildlife sanctuary: calm, quiet, clear skies, and close to nature. An English‑speaking guide showed us bears and shared the refuge’s history – thanks, Miss! We also liked the abandoned castle nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. The plastic cover was sandy and opaque, like in the photos, and the door lacked a mosquito net, which would have been handy.
The location was fine, but the tent fabric was no longer transparent, the tent faced away from the view, the gear was outdated, and it was expensive for what you get. It seemed like a bear rescue (30 brown bears!) but it wasn’t accessible.
“Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft - wer eine etwas abenteuerliche Anreise auf sich nimmt, wird belohnt”
An adventure for anyone wanting to stay “in the middle of nowhere” and learn about Armenia’s amazing nature – this is the spot. The lodge, rooms, and tents were all spotless, air‑conditioned, and the location is simply extraordinary. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast is fantastic. The trip itself is a bit of an adventure for those from central or western Europe – roughly 7 km of gravel road. That’s fine for me, and it’s doable in summer even without a 4WD, just with a small car and an experienced driver. The dinner could have been richer for the price.
The place is amazing and exactly what we sought. It’s in the middle of nowhere (note that UCom has no network there and inexperienced drivers in a regular car could damage things) and the effort to get there is worth it. The staff play a crucial role in caring for bears in Armenia, and you literally “sleep with bears”; don’t worry, the biggest dog is a bear that just wants cuddles. The only network operator is available, so you need to call the staff to open the gate, or you can take a short 10‑minute hike.
