The apartment was near the train station, one stop to the central station. The room had bottled water and we were offered more if needed. There was no information at the building entrance about what was here. It’s an apartment on the top floor of a residential building. On the ground floor there is an intercom, and to get into the apartment you have to call, but there is no sign on the intercom or a plaque. We passed the entrance several times, looked into the inner courtyards, and only a man smoking by the window above the house door told us it was probably the top apartment and advised us to call.

House Steccuto is only 200 m from the Firenze Rifredi station, where frequent trains head to Firenze Santa Maria Novella, and the host is very friendly, creating a family‑like vibe.

The host greeted me warmly and the photos under‑represent the place; the spot is a block from the train station and away from the overly touristy zone. A fridge and freezer let me keep water chilled and store groceries, and I found a bottle of chilled water and fruit waiting for me when I arrived—unexpected extras that I appreciated. The only downside was that the air conditioning failed for all but the first night; the room felt stuffy and humid, especially at night, making sleep difficult. The host said it was beyond their control, but in late July a lack of A/C would be better warned about beforehand, and a cancellation fee waiver would help guests who might want to look elsewhere.
