“Un havre de paix au bord du Nil, une douceur des lieux et du propriétaire”
We spent five wonderful nights at Ahmed’s place with his family, located on Elephantine Island with an unobstructed view of the Nile and its flotilla from the bedroom balcony or rooftop terrace. The island’s peace is a delight, waking early to stroll the alleys or watching sunsets from various spots, and it’s easy to hop on the public ferry to the bustle of Aswan. Ahmed is exceptionally kind and gentle, and he helped us arrange activities: a felucca ride with Mustapha, a botanical garden and Nubian village visit with Mohamed, a ferry and taxi to Abu Simbel, and a taxi and boat to the Temple of Philae. Everyone we met was lovely, and everything ran smoothly. We stayed in a room with a toilet and shower (the towel drying was quick, everything dry in 2 minutes). The accommodation was very clean and the bedding very comfortable. They provided a kettle with tea and coffee, a fridge, and a mosquito‑repellent plug. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful, with a special shout‑out to the falafels that revived our love for them, which we usually find too dry. We were the last guests before the season ended (no summer bookings), so I strongly recommend staying here and letting yourself be carried by the rhythm of this wonderful place.
