“Don't always believe what the web site shows. This by far was nothing like what was shown.”
We couldn't figure out how to enter the hotel because there was no signage; another guest was also confused and had to flag a staff member who finally showed us the way in, which didn’t match the website instructions. After a 7‑hour drive, we expected to sit at the beautiful bar shown online, only to learn it was only open Friday through Sunday, while we were staying Tuesday through Friday, and that detail was missing from the site. The room itself was dated; we got a regular key—something I haven’t seen in a hotel in ages—and there was no safety lock, so I felt the need to block the door with a suitcase at night. The room was somewhat clean, but the single chair had dirty arms that forced me to cover them with towels before sitting. We stayed because we had already paid and had driven 7 hours; the resort label felt misleading, offering only basic amenities. The balcony looked out onto a boat dock, and the space was too small to move forward. We chose the hotel because of its name, Bonnie's Castle, hoping for a photo with my wife Bonnie in front of it, but there was no name on the building. I would not recommend this location.
