Katsura-san is an exceptionally kind host, probably the most patient person I've met in Kyoto.

The host’s hospitality is amazing; I was truly impressed, it reminded me of old inns. The building is old, so the stairs are very steep, but you can feel the old capital vibe. The distance from the station and bus stop made it hard for my tired body.

The owner is very friendly despite the language barrier, and he gave me a proper welcome and goodbye. The walls and tatami were recently renovated and the house is full of history. The bathroom is on another floor, so be careful if you have trouble with steep stairs.

Mr. Katsura is a wonderful human being. He showed me Kyoto through pictures and pamphlets, and he didn’t lead me astray! I loved seeing Kyoto through his eyes. His kind and energetic company made my solo trip one of my fondest memories abroad, and I would book again in a heartbeat. Thank you again, Mr. Katsura! Shared bathroom facilities were not a problem for me at all, as I was out all day traveling.

A very great choice if you want to experience living in a traditional Japanese house. The host was very nice.
