“Disappointed”

The shared shower and toilets were old but clean. The twin room was dirty, the sheer curtain hung on a string tied in a knot and was filthy, the TV was mounted on the wall but no remote was provided, and there were two boxes against the wall that might be a cupboard under construction. We asked for a different room, which turned out a bit better. If they’re renovating, the rates might be too high. Some public areas were also dirty, including the kitchen near the rooms. We booked two nights but left after one; really disappointed.

The people were friendly, and the renovation is underway—completed areas look great. The old building has a lot of character.

“Beautiful old hotel”

The old building was beautiful. I loved the décor, stained‑glass window, and staircase. Clearly a lot of thought went into the furniture in the dining room and bedroom. Unfortunately, we chose on a Friday night in a small town, which turned out to be a hotspot for nightlife and made it hard to sleep, which we needed. Not their fault.

“We would not return”

We liked the location, but the accommodation was disappointing and clearly needs maintenance and refurbishment. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, sagging and very low to the ground. The shared bathroom facilities were basic and in poor condition, with peeling paint and generally low‑quality finishes. The kitchen facilities were also disappointing; the microwave was extremely dirty, with old, caked‑on food splattered throughout the interior. No clothes hangers were provided and there was nowhere practical to store luggage. The property itself needs serious TLC. The balcony is in poor condition, and there are numerous untreated and weathered floorboards throughout. The air conditioning was inefficient and struggled to heat the room adequately. Overall, the property feels tired, poorly maintained and in need of significant attention. Given the condition of the facilities, the accommodation did not provide the standard of comfort or cleanliness I would reasonably expect.
