The staff and locals made us feel incredibly welcome, especially during a friendly yet tricky pub quiz that evening; our rooms were comfortable and the electric shower was surprisingly good; we enjoyed an excellent evening meal and breakfast, with the steak and ale pie standing out as one of the best we've ever tasted; overall, it was a memorable stay in a stunning part of the world. Thank you.

The pub atmosphere was enjoyable, but the toilet didn't work properly and the shower was clumsy and unsafe in the bathtub.

This property is stunning, as is its location, built from traditional Yorkshire stone that adds to its charm; the rooms are clean, cosy, comfortable, with lovely décor and the best mattresses ever, giving me an amazing night's sleep; the staff went above and beyond and were fantastic hosts, always smiling and humorous; we only tried the breakfast, which was superb, using high‑quality ingredients and serving wonderful tea and coffee; I would not hesitate to recommend the Downe Arms to anyone visiting the area—try it and you won’t be disappointed. The only improvement would be the towels, which were slightly small, being bath towels rather than sheets.

The staff were really lovely, very accommodating, and made us feel very welcome; the rooms were nice and the area is beautiful; breakfast was great, and it offered good value for money.
