“Formidable 💘”
We stayed one night at the Château and would recommend it without reservation—provided you can live with a few small, mostly visual imperfections and don’t expect perfection everywhere. The Château, with its large grounds, has the charm of an old French family seat and is a bit out of date in places—exactly what made it so appealing to us. Upon arrival, we were personally and warmly welcomed by the castle owner. The entrance area is wonderfully analog: no computer, just a large guest book like in older hotels. Our two‑bedroom suite was in the west wing, accessed via delightfully creaky stairs. Everything was clean and well‑maintained, with a pronounced shabby‑chic and the small charming compromises that come with it. The bathrooms are renovated and in impeccable condition. Since we arrived in the evening, we asked the owner for a restaurant recommendation—and we were not disappointed. The restaurant we chose was excellent, special, and far from overpriced. After a wonderfully quiet night, the next morning there was a classic French breakfast in the large salon with croissants, baguette, jam, fruit, cereals, juices, coffee, and tea. No big showmanship and no cappuccino bar—the coffee comes traditionally from the pot. It was perfect for us. The owner is exceptionally friendly and attentive, never intrusive. We felt very comfortable and hope this little gem can remain in family ownership and be preserved through its opening as a hotel. Not perfect and not polished to a high gloss—authentic, charming, and a bit out of date. Exactly as one imagines and wishes for a French Château.
