A wonderful hotel! We had a very good rest

I drove from Ito to Shimoda and found plenty of free parking for guests. The hotel sits right opposite the famous Shirahama Beach, and you can reach the beach from the pool area, which was very convenient. The location was excellent, about a 15‑minute drive to the CBD and the famous Perry Road, and the Floating Aquarium and Shimoda Park were also a quick drive away. My room was very large, spacious, and faced the ocean, letting me see the beach and sunrise from my window. The onsite restaurant served breakfast and dinner. I liked doing laundry while I was away, especially since I was at the beach a lot; they have a full coin‑laundry room, which was great and meant I didn’t have to wait for a machine. The coin laundry does get busy in the evening. The hotel has stairs and lifts, so I didn’t have to wait for the lift all the time if I didn’t have luggage. I didn’t like that P2 and P3 were on the left side of the hotel; P2 required walking down a steep ramp and sharing the walkway with cars after parking, which felt like a long walk when it was raining.

it's near the beach

It was very clean with an ocean view. Dinner and breakfast were buffet; the provided Yukata was cute. The public bath was wonderful. The building was old, from the 80s, but kept up well. Cabs only take cash. Dinner was expensive but good. I had to cross the street to reach the beach, which was okay.

The spot is great, right on the beach and right in front of the bus stop to get into town. The building feels very old and unclean: the carpet is stained, the furniture is dusty, and the beds are uncomfortable. The breakfast didn't suit our tastes, and the food labels were only in Japanese even though there were many international guests, so it was hard to know what we were eating without spending half an hour checking on our phone. Overall, the staff seemed uninterested in helping guests and followed a “do it yourself” attitude, which is tough for people coming from far away. Out of about 10 hotels we stayed in Japan that month, this was the worst without a doubt.
