Golf and horseback riding lie five minutes away, while the Aqualux Spa is a 15‑minute drive. Within 13 km, guests reach Gaal ski slopes and Seckau Abbey; Graz is reachable in 45 minutes.

The old‑estate vibe of the property, along with the décor of the hotel and its rooms, gives a sense of stepping back into earlier times. The library’s design, where breakfast is served, and the adjacent halls and corridors create a wonderful ambience. The hotel staff are sweet and very helpful. A bonus is the private parking on the estate grounds, free of charge. The property deserves a high rating and is worth recommending. On the downside, there are things that could be quickly and simply improved. The breakfast is fresh but, given the beautiful setting of the dining room, one would expect it to be more refined and richer in vegetables, which were missing. The cleanliness of the marquees outside the building… or rather the long‑standing dirt on them leaves an unpleasant impression that doesn’t match the rest of the building; a simple pressure‑wash would suffice. Likewise, the artistic mess that gives a bad first impression at the reception, where a kind man welcomed us, is unappealing. The room we received was clean, spacious, with comfortable beds, but it also needed minor repairs: a peeling baseboard, a cracked wall, a bathroom door that didn’t close well, and an air‑conditioning hose that fell out of its outlet. Small details that unnecessarily irritate the eye, but the property is still highly recommendable.

The apartment is spacious, the bed was wonderful, and the location—distance to the Red Bull Ring—was great, plus the castle vibe. The setup is very minimal: one dishcloth for dishes and hands, which I find unhygienic; one toilet paper roll for three days for three people with no backup; exactly three cups for three people, so we had to wash them each time (and the apartment wasn’t cheap). The breakfast buffet was basic, there was a hole in the wall, flickering light in the bathroom, and the photo on Booking made it look like a freestanding building with a huge green area. We never saw that green space, and the castle is actually in a residential block surrounded by buildings and houses. There’s no lounge in the hotel; we were taken straight into the apartment with no explanation (except the breakfast room) about who was where. We didn’t take any photos.
