The room was large, beautiful, and the bathroom featured a bathtub and walk‑in shower; parking is available right outside the door; the pool was clean and spacious; the staff were very friendly. It would have been nice to have a variety of pillow types.

We’re not newcomers to Van der Valk Hengelo and we love it; the rooms are roomy, the spot is perfect for us with family in Hengelo, and the spa and pool are always pleasant (the gym is also excellent), plus the breakfasts are huge and cater to every taste and appetite. The only minor drawback was the hair‑dryer, which was pretty useless for my long hair—thankfully it was summer— and on the first morning the housekeeping staff knocked on our door right after we’d returned from breakfast while my partner was still in the bathroom; I understood their “later” and said “OK later,” yet when we came back that evening the room still hadn’t been cleaned.
