“Staff were very friendly. Room was clean but noisy from the highway”
The area was clean and green for the dog. Pet friendly shouldn’t be on the second floor. It would have been nice to have a dark‑colored cloth to wipe pets’ feet, and bowls for the pet would have been a nice touch.
“Traumatized”
Nothing good; the room was filthy, dated, and had never been updated since the '70s with stained sheets, and we paid $35 over the posted rate to bring our 8‑lb dog, plus a $20 pet fee and $15 extra because the only dog room had two beds. The curtains were nasty and looked out onto a dead hedge, and we weren’t sure what kind of floor it was so we avoided walking barefoot. The bathroom was horrendous—no view behind the toilet—and we regretted staying as soon as we saw it. The photos and reviews didn’t match the room we got, and if it had been decent we’d have been regulars.
“Not bad, a work in progress, good value for the money”
It was cheaper than the Best Western in Chemainus, close to the activities I was doing, and there were rooms available for the nights I needed. The beds were new and comfortable, the owners clearly want to upgrade the place, towels and sheets were clean and new, and there was a fridge and TV. The staff were friendly, but the highway noise and the noisy air conditioner were annoying, some renovations in room 208 were still unfinished, the hotel seemed understaffed so the front desk wasn’t monitored and phones weren’t answered, and our sink drained slowly.
“Ok for a place to sleep for one night”
It was clean. Air conditioner not working properly and too much traffic noise to have window open. Water was barely warm, not hot. Only 1 of 3 light bulbs in the bathroom worked. Bed was hard
“It was ok, frogs in the water fountain and just a great stop.”
The room was quiet and pretty, but there was no air conditioning—just loud fans. They said no smoking, yet the guests in the room next to us were smoking on their front door, and there was no designated smoking area, which probably explains why the neighbors smoked outside their doors.
