“Inoubliable, à visiter absolument.”
We stayed as a couple at Maida Lodge and loved the experience so much that we extended our stay once on site (5 nights in total, end of May 2026); having read the few negative comments, Maida Lodge is not a “tourist activity resort” but an authentic immersive experience in the nature of Northern Vietnam by the water, a magical place to let time pass, read, swim, rest, paint, and especially taste the incredibly tasty local menu; again, don’t expect anything flashy or artificial, the products are chosen for freshness and local proximity, and the entire menu may not be available all the time; letting the host guide you is the best experience, and giving a bit of advance notice of desired meals so the teams can stock up is part of the experience; after a long stay in Northern Vietnam and being adventurous with meals, the cuisine at Maida Lodge was undoubtedly the tastiest food of our trip; it’s possible to come by road, but we recommend arranging a transfer from Hanoi through Maida Lodge to enjoy the breathtaking boat shuttle; the place, both the scenery and the architecture and design, is of exceptional quality, which initially drew us here, and later the slow life on site won us over; the vegetation is lush, the outdoor facilities are very well designed, and the viewpoints are exceptional; it’s true that you should expect some insect encounters, after all it’s a lodge in nature!
