Located beside picturesque Loch Maree, this 1872-built hotel hosted Queen Victoria as a guest. The hotel offers angling on the loch, hiking trails, free parking, and public Wi-Fi. En-suite bathrooms, bathrobes, TVs, and tea/coffee facilities are standard in each room. A hearty breakfast is served in the on-site restaurant, and a bar with pool table is available for evening drinks.

Fantastic location with a great view of the lake from the room, and the hosts really try to make you comfortable. I could point out some minor issues; it seems a lot of potential renovation could be done, but the fact that it’s an old house is part of its overall charm.

A good‑sized, traditional room that was clean and had everything you’d need, including a desk and chair. Tea, coffee, water and shortbread were in the room. Tap water comes from their own well and is slightly colored. The staff were friendly, helped with luggage on arrival, and introduced everyone by name, which was nice. The on‑site restaurant and bar served good food, though the prices reflected the limited options in the area. Breakfast was a solid choice. The hotel sits on the side of Loch Maree with gardens by the loch and a seating area overlooking the surroundings. Nothing to add.

A classic older Scottish Inn. The room was comfy with a stunning view of Loch. The old Inn has its own charm and some upgraded features. Duncan was a fantastic host, kept in touch about a dinner problem that night and offered a better option. The breakfast room was pleasant with plenty of hot and cold choices. The four‑poster bedroom was a highlight. Highly recommended. The plumbing feels a bit dated, but that’s expected in a century‑old building and the charm and host more than cover it. The bed was comfortable, though a touch soft for our taste.

The reception was incredibly warm, and the staff gave great advice that let me explore lovely hikes. The restaurant was good and the breakfast refreshed me. I stayed two nights instead of one and enjoyed the lake view. It was my best week in Scotland. Not very modern, but the hospitality made up for it.
