The place sits on a charming, quiet street and has a simple, no‑fuss Hanok style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room, however, came without a mattress and the futons were a bit thin, so if you’re not used to a hard surface it might be uncomfortable.

I spent two nights at the Side Hanok to get a full day off during a long business trip. Even at 60, I still feel the backpacker in me, and now I can afford to pause at quality spots. The other reviews prove their accuracy. It’s a gem, run by an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and very kind local, Minsik, who helped me nail Plan A for my first Seoul visit: hiking up to the summit of Baegundae. I had a fabulous day. The location is great—less than a 10‑minute walk from the metro, easy access to the National Park via a few stops and a smooth bus ride (Minsik will give you all the directions you need), and in a very cool, local (non‑tourist) neighbourhood with plenty of great food and beer options! I stayed in one of the fancier en‑suite rooms, which was perfectly comfortable and very, very peaceful. Thank you so much, Minsik – I’ll be back. The only downside was having to leave after just two nights and one day of sightseeing.

This is such a beautiful place to stay. It was so relaxing to sit at the window and look out after a day of walking around the city. It seems like the bathroom has a bit of water damage on the wood. It didn’t really affect me, but worth mentioning
