The only good thing about the place is the Lava café across the street and its proximity to Bromo; nothing else stands out. The welcome was cold. The tap dripped all night, creating constant noise; you hear cars, motorcycles, and neighbors. It’s impossible to sleep without a blind or earplugs. There was no toilet paper or hot water. The blanket was dirty and gave a disgusting feeling when you wrapped yourself in it, and it was freezing. No blanket or heating. We had to sleep in a fleece jacket, and that sums it up.

We had read the reviews beforehand, so no nasty surprises popped up. The location is great, only a few hundred metres from the park entrance. The night-time 4x4 noise is just the price of being that close; earplugs were a must. The staff weren’t unpleasant but far from professional. The room was relatively clean, except for the kitchen which was really filthy. The sheets had been washed, but the furniture was in terrible shape—a creaking bed, a ripped sofa, and a mattress lying directly on the floor. It was quite cold with no heating, and there was no hot water, so taking a shower was impossible, especially with the chill in the room. We were lucky to have brought wipes.

The place was in a good spot. When we arrived, we were told the room was full and we were moved to another homestay without any prior notice.

There isn’t much to say positively. The room was filthy; when my girlfriend wiped the headboard with a wet wipe, it turned black after one swipe. There was no sink in the bathroom and no towels provided. The mattresses were spring types and the room wasn’t insulated at all, so it was freezing (no heating or AC). It was impossible to sleep after 2 am because jeeps kept driving right in front of the hotel looking for tourists.
