“Great location, great staff, but hotel standards are low”
The staff were great and the hotel sits right next to the historic center. But they discharge canal water straight into the sea in front of the hotel at three spots, making the “beach” stink and the water obviously unclean. The room was unclean: the carpet looked never cleaned, the cupboards beside the bed in room 123 were too tight and ended up tilted, and there was a smell from the air‑conditioner. The shower head holder was broken and only crudely glued, and the silicone on the toilet seat was yellow/orange and broken—quite disgusting. Cleaning seemed superficial; hidden spots were visibly dirty. Around the pool and sunbeds, the area wasn’t cleaned daily despite heavy use. Massage beds were losing leather, leaving scraps on the floor. The steam room was out of order during peak season, the sauna floor was rarely cleaned, and there were no towels at the sauna or gym—one had to fetch them from the room. For the low price, you could expect a 5‑star hotel elsewhere in Europe during midsummer, so the experience was a huge letdown. We didn’t complain because we came to relax, but we’ll never book this brand again.

I stayed in a spacious, clean room that had a huge bathroom, and our private rooftop area with a hot tub and sun lounger was a real highlight. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of options and served in a lovely room. The hotel was a bit farther out of town than I had imagined, though still walkable; the pedestrian gate out of the hotel had a narrow, stony strip between the wall and the road that stretched for several metres before a proper path appeared. There was no proper bar area to unwind in the evenings; the outside space felt more like a restaurant than a bar.
