The free‑drink service stayed open far longer than usual – you could still get a beverage after checkout and before check‑in, which was a lifesaver in the sweltering heat. The lobby was spacious and relaxed, making it a pleasant spot to tidy up some work after we left our room. We also appreciated the extended hours for the large onsen, which let us soak to our heart’s content. If anything, the breakfast desserts might have tasted better with local fruit.

The onsen and the sumptuous Japanese breakfast served in small private salons were wonderful.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and the entrance area was roomy and comfortable, turning the lounge into a genuine place to unwind. We spent three nights in a Japanese‑style room that was spacious, tastefully decorated and spotless, and despite the drawbacks we eventually felt at home and didn’t want to leave as easily as we first thought. The décor, however, looks dated and bears obvious wear, and the air‑conditioning unit is old, hard to adjust (even after painstakingly translating the Japanese labels via Google), noisy and blasts air straight into the bedroom.
