The place sits right on the square, but a bunch of parking rules and construction made it annoying; the building feels very old, there's no fridge, and you have to walk a long way to the ice machine, so there are basically no amenities, earning a 7.0/10.

Hotel Arcata is a charming, older hotel that's located right in the heart of the city by the town square. We loved the ambiance of a hotel that's more than 100 years old and being able to take a short walk to restaurants and other attractions nearby. The bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of space for us. I would hesitate to say that these were 'dislikes', but the room didn't have air conditioning, so in the rare event that Arcata has a heat wave, the room would likely get pretty warm. The claw-foot tub was very cool looking, but felt a lot smaller when standing in it for showers

The rooms were clean and quiet, the bed very comfortable, and the Square location was pleasant; parking was easy and there was plenty of time in the morning to move the car if needed, so everything was good, rating 9.0/10.

It’s in town, close to the highway and places to eat, and there were no issues, earning a 9.0/10.

The location was excellent and the breakfast decent, especially the bake‑your‑own‑waffle option, but the rooms felt dated and had no view, and parking required a bit of effort because it’s only street parking, so I give it an 8.0/10.
