Nothing except the cleanliness; it’s an old‑fashioned motel mainly for 4‑wheel‑drive hikers, with very simple but tidy furnishings, a small reception that only seats two, and it’s too expensive for the value.

The bed was very nice, flat, firm, with a good old‑style top sheet, blanket, and bedspread—no heavy, hot comforters that other places use and then rip off the bed immediately; at the Calabogie Motor Inn that’s right. The driveway has potholes and the lot needs grading and smoothing, and the fly‑blown window sills and the tin cans full of cigarette butts should be cleaned up.

The location is excellent. The staff were courteous and helpful, the bed linen was clean, and the bathroom and toilet were clean too. The kettle was crusty, so I didn’t use it and missed my usual morning coffee.

The location was good, but the place smelled musty, we could hear other rooms clearly, and it seemed like other guests were engaged in illicit activities.
