“Not value for money”

We paid a lot for a two‑night stay, but the exterior looked like a dump with broken fences, a shed, a rusty barbecue that wasn’t cleaned, and a bench that couldn’t be sat on because of dirt and broken decking. Wi‑Fi was advertised but nowhere available, and the guest book confirmed that. The kitchen was missing items such as a frying pan. The only silver lining was that it was only a two‑day visit. The outdoor area could have been cleaned up, the fences and shed removed, broken items repaired, facias and gutters cleaned, and the grape vines unpicked; it all looked dreadful and not what was expected.

“Mooie accommodatie, jammer dat er verder niks meer te beleven is en de bistro/rondleidingen/terras gesloten is.”

The place is large and clean, but there’s nothing to do; it’s remote and now very quiet because the bistro and terrace are closed. We only found out late via the website that they’re closed, while the booking site still shows them open with photos.

“Lovely lodge, hard to get to, rubbish bins not emptied from when the bistro closed.”

A lovely spot but hard to reach; there was no Wi‑Fi even though it was advertised, though that wasn’t the owner’s fault—more a BT issue.

The view was amazing, waking up to rabbits, squirrels, many birds—including a woodpecker and raptors—and two deer felt uplifting. The setting was peaceful and safe, and the lodge was clean, tidy, and stylish. We loved it and the weather was beautiful, but the outside areas need work: the fence is blown down, old fences need replacement, decking and furniture need re‑varnishing, bins are overflowing with animal waste, and a pothole needs filling.

“We enjoyed our stay”

A very nice week’s stay, very calm with no noise and great views. Wi‑Fi was down because of a temporary technical problem, and it would help to have more plates, cups, goblets and cutlery.
